Our Carers

Our carers are selected in line with our equality and diversity policy. Our recruitment process starts with a comprehensive interview followed by a DBS (police check) and two references. They complete a shadow shift and a full training programme. The new carers work with senior carers only to start with, they are mentored by our Quality Assurance Manager and they complete competency work books. All carers wear a uniform with a Brooks logo and carry photo identification.
We understand that you would want to form a therapeutic relationship with your carer so we choose carers who demonstrate characteristics such as empathy, kindness, compassion and are trustworthy.

Our carers can work towards an award in Health and Social care for a Diploma or Apprenticeship Level 2 or 3 or short courses in end of life care and dementia. We are very fortunate to have a high retention of staff and some of our carers have been with the company since we started in 2008. At Brooks Care we have a wide range of expertise within the team and their strengths are matched to the service user. Our carers are highly valued and an integral part of our business. We help and support them in their role and we are looking at ways of recognising them individually such as Carer of the month and long service awards.
